DPR, Sep 20 — DAN. “Sparta” battalion commander Artyom Zhoga has been elected speaker of the Donetsk People’s Republic new parliament at its first session on Wednesday.

Zhoga was nominated by the United Russia party. Back then, he said that he would “meet the expectations and give 110 percent.”

He was among the top three candidates on the United Russia’s party list in the regional parliamentary election.

The DPR parliament comprises representatives of four political parties: United Russia, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, New People and the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. Five parties participated in the DPR elections. United Russia won 78.03 percent of votes.

On Wednesday, the legislative assemblies of the Donbass Republics and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions held their first sessions after the elections.*jk
