Donetsk, Feb 28 – DAN. There is still hope for Vodafone mobile services restoration in the DPR, said DPR envoy to the negotiations Denis Pushilin after the Contact Group meeting in Minsk today.
"The Vodafone situation has been discussed at the subgroup for economic issues talks, there is hope Vodafone will resume operation soon," he said.
The Contact Group members heard both Vodafone representative and the DPR Ministry of Communications representative. Pushilin said that earlier the absence of direct dialog between experts complicated the restoration of the mobile carrier operations in the DPR and fueled speculations.
On January 11, the DPR was cut off from the last Ukrainian mobile carrier MTS-Ukraine (Vodafone) services after an emergency disconnection of communication channel outside Elenovka, leaving the Phoenix operator the only provider of mobile call service. Sales of DPR Phoenix mobile operator starter kits grew immediately. The Ministry of Communications addressed the company asking it to assist the repair works, but no reply followed..
