Donetsk, Sep 20 - DAN. Acting Donetsk People’s Republic Head Denis Pushilin agreed to run for the post of DPR Head at the November 11 elections as he addressed the large social organisations forum Donbass Future on Thursday.

The proposal to take part in the election as a candidate for the DPR’s top post was brought forward by activist Irina Kostina. Pushilin agreed to run for office with absolute support of forum participants.

“We are rapidly gaining speed and will not stop. Never look back! We’ll move towards our goal together, shoulder to shoulder,” Pushilin said. “For the sake of peace, for the sake of our children’s future, we’ll build a free and prosperous Donetsk People’s Republic. Friends, I thank you for your support. Together, we’ll succeed in everything.”

He drew attention to the fact that Donetsk would continue Alexander Zakharchenko’s policy line. “We’ll follow the cause to which Alexander Vladimirovich (Zakharchenko) was committed and for which he gave his life. We’re defending the choice the people made on May 11, 2014,” Pushilin said. “Alexander Zakharchenko’s killers miscalculated. They failed to intimidate us, they were unable to lead us astray.”

Central Donetsk is currently overcrowded. Some 10,000 people have gathered for the forum, according to the Donetsk News Agency.

Earlier reports said that the Donetsk People’s Republic Central Election Commission would begin registration of candidates for the post of DPR Head on September 21.*jk
