Donetsk, Sep 1 – DAN. The LPR's acting Head Leonid Pasechnik has extended his condolences over the assassination of the DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko, Lugansk Media Center said citing his statement.

"It is hard to believe that Alexander Zakharchenko has died. This terror act is a vivid proof of that terrorists stop at nothing in their unhuman, cruel fight against freedom and independence. Alexander Zakharchenko is an example of a man whose willpower, valor and love for the Motherland were so enormous that he was ready to sacrifice his life for peace and independence for his nation at any moment," Pasechnik said.

"The banner of his fight has been raised so high it shall never go down.

"This assassination shall never be forgiven and shall be forever remembered."

"I extend my deepest condolences to Alexander Vladimirovich's family and friends, to the whole Donbass."

DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko was killed in a bombing at a cafe in the Dontesk city center Friday evening. The blast injured 11 more people, including tax minister Alexander Timofeyev who is treated in hospital for serious injuries.

Dmitriy Trapeznikov, deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers, has been appointed acting DPR Head in accordance with the DPR Constitution, Article 62. *ot
