Donetsk, Aug 6 - DAN. Kiev’s statements about commitment to peace in Donbass amidst the shelling by Ukrainian army have become a cynical and barefaced lie, Donetsk People’s Republic Head Denis Pushilin said on Tuesday.

“On Monday, Ukrainian armed forces violated the truce again opening machine-gun fire at a school in central Gorlovka,” Pushilin said. “It is happening against the backdrop of numerous statements by Ukrainian politicians and officials about Kiev’ peace initiatives and their wish to stop the Donbass war. Obviously, these statements are cynical and barefaced lie.”

Ukraine again shows its commitment to double morals: while talking peace initiatives, Ukrainian authorities ask their North American partners to increase supplies of armaments; and amidst discussions about Donbass ceasefire, Kiev does not stop shelling schools and houses in Donbass, he added.

“Undoubtedly, the Ukrainian leadership is not striving for peace. We’re calling upon the international community to make Kiev fulfil the Minsk Agreements, compel Ukrainian armed formations to peace and hold responsible all the war criminals who bring death and destruction to our land,” the DPR leader said.

Earlier reports said Ukrainian forces on Monday evening opened fire at the northern part of Gorlovka damaging a town school. Updated reports said damaged was caused to the houses at 18 Tushinskaya Street, 1 Starobelskaya Street and 4 Bakha Street in Gorlovka.

A new comprehensive, lasting and indefinite ceasefire came into force in Donbass at 00:01 on July 21. It was agreed at the the Contact Group talks in Minsk on July 17. *jk
