Donetsk, Mar 30 – DAN. The legislative initiative to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate will lead to a split of the Slavic people, the chairman of the DPR People's Council Vladimir Bidyovka said.
On Monday, a bill was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in the country, authored by a deputy from the Golos party Inna Sovsun. Another bill to ban the Moscow Patriarchate was registered on March 25, authored by Oksana Savchuk, a deputy from the nationalist Svoboda party.
“Ukraine is pursuing a policy that is absolutely vile, but quite logical for its fate. The centuries-old spiritual connection, the unity of Orthodox ideas is too powerful a unifying force in the eyes of the current owners of Ukraine. Of course, they are trying to destroy it, to provoke a spiritual split in our united Slavic people. That is why Ukrainian politicians are doing everything to deprive people of their, perhaps, last “legal” values.
