Donetsk, Sep 7 - DAN. The State Security and Interior Ministries of the Donetsk People’s Republic have supported the parliament’s decision to appoint Denis Pushilin as acting DPR Head.
“The DPR People’s Council is the only supreme representative body of the Republic. Taking this into consideration, the State Security Ministry (MGB) leadership supports the parliament’s decision to appoint Denis Vladimirovich Pushilin as acting Head of the Republic,” the MGB said in a statement on Friday.
It said that it would continue to work towards ensuring security of the state, its protection from internal and external threats and stable operation of all government and public institutions of the Republic.
The DPR Interior Ministry said in a statement on Friday that it supported the parliament’s decision on Denis Pushilin’s appointment as acting head of the Republic. “DPR police are standing by to repel all threats to secure the stable functioning of DPR social and vital infrastructure facilities. The Ministry will continue to guard law and order, protect the rights and freedoms of residents and ensure their compliance with norms and provisions of the Republic’s laws,” the Interior Ministry said.
Earlier on Friday, the DPR parliament appointed its speaker Denis Pushilin as acting Head of the Republic. The parliament set November 11 as the date for parliamentary and Head of the Republic elections. Pushilin thanked the lawmakers for their confidence in him saying that he planned to step up the work of the Council of Ministers.
DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko was killed in an explosion in central Donetsk on August 31.*jk
