Donetsk, Oct 4 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic residents should elect their leader for the next few years by themselves, so the importance of holding the election is obvious, a candidate for the post of DPR Head Yelena Shishkina told the Donetsk News Agency on Thursday.
“Many ask if we need these elections. I’m sure they are absolutely necessary, both the Head and parliamentary elections,” Shishkina said. “The Republic’s residents should choose their leader by themselves as they express their will.”
Shishkina said that she would announce her election programme in the nearest future. The hopeful thanked the Central Election Commission for professionalism and “reverential attitude to the candidates.”
Earlier reports said that the CEC had registered Yelena Shishkina as a candidate for the post of DPR Head and issued a candidate’s ID to her.
DPR residents will elect the new head of the Republic and the parliament on November 11.*jk
