Donetsk, May 26 — DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic Head Denis Pushilin has ordered to set up a local authority in the liberated Svetlodarsk.
«I order to set up a local authority of the Donetsk People’s Republic, the administration of the town of Svetlodarsk, ” said Pushilin’s Decree No 236 which was published on the official website of the head of state.
Svetlodarsk has been included in the responsibility area of Debaltsevo. The Debaltsevo mayor was tasked with presenting a candidate to the post of Svetlodarsk administration head. He will also draw, coordinating and approve the provision on town administration.
The decree was signed and published on May 26, 2022 and comes into force today.
Svetlodarsk is located 18 kilometers north of Debaltsevo. It was founded in 1968. On April 29, 2014, a rally in the town adopted a resolution in support of the Donetsk People’s Republic independence referendum. Ukrainian troops occupied the town in the summer of 2014. The town accommodates the Uglegorskaya thermal power plant, one of the largest in Europe. Svetlodarsk was liberated from Ukrainian armed formations in late May 2022.*jk
