Donetsk, Oct 18 – DAN. The DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko confirmed his intention to take part in DPR head election in 2018, he said in the interview to DAN.

Earlier in the day, during the III Donetsk Republic (DR) social movement Congress the secretary of Torez DR branch Andrey Bedilo asked Zakharchenko to run for the leadership.

"I gave it a good thought. If DPR residents believe in me, I will run for leadership in 2018. I am grateful for the trust you have in me," Zakharchenko said.
"In Ukraine they have not even adopted the law on Donbass status in full. Evidently, we consider it as non-abidance with the Minsk-2. Thus, I see no obstacles for my leadership bid in 2018 as a member of the DR social movement, "he concluded.

According to the DPR constitution, the DPR Head is elected to a four-year term and is allowed two terms consecutive. The first election was held on November 2, 2014. Zakharchenko was one of the three candidates, winning threefold support over his competitors. *ot
