Donetsk, Dec 12 – DAN. Kiev, at today's Contact Group video conference, refused to adopt a mechanism for prevention of shelling in Donbass, DPR envoy Denis Pushilin said.
"DPR initiated a video conference of the Contact Group members. It was proposed to work out and adopt a mechanism for prevention of shelling by the next meeting of the Contact Group security subgroup. The only (side) that refused to look for options to curb fire and prosecute the side violating the ceasefire was the Ukrainian one".
Pushilin added that the initiative was welcomed by OSCE SMM representatives, LPR and Russain sides.
The issue of shelling of Donetsk outskirts that occurred on December 8 was also on the agenda.
"The JCCC, SMM reports as well as preliminary conclusions of the public committee investigating the case confirm that 122mm rounds were used, and confirm the direction of fire that suggests Ukraine is culpable for shelling of Kuibyshevskiy district."
"To avoid escalation with New Year and Christmas holidays upcoming, we urge OSCE SMM to take all measures to minimize violations of the ceasefire," Pushilin added.
Thirteen residential houses were damaged in Khimiki, Grodnenskaya, Severodvinskaya, Arbatskaya, Druzhby and Leskhoznaya streets as Ukrainian forces opened fire at Donetsk’s Kuibyshevskiy district on December 7-8 night. The city emergency service reported multiple damage to gas distribution pipelines and power transmission lines.
On December 12 Kiev opened mortar and artillery fire on Sakhanka in DPR south, damaging a school and two houses. After that Ukrainian armed forces targeted six Russian and DPR TV crews working in the area. *ot
