Donetsk, Feb 28 — DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic parliament on Tuesday has appointed six Election Commission members with the right of deciding vote, parliament speaker Vladimir Bidyovka said.
The six election Commission members are Svetlana Astakhova from the “Communist Party of the Russian Federation, ” Sergey Kravets from “A Just Russia — For Truth” party, Anna Naidenko from Russia’s Central Election Commission, Vadim Prudnikov from the “Free Donbass” social movement, Yelena Radomskaya from the “Donetsk Republic” social movement and Yevgeny Filippovsky from the “New People” party, the speaker said.
The parliament resolution comes into force on the date of its publication and will be forwarded to the Russian Election Commission.
Under the Donetsk People’s Republic’s law on the system of election commissions and referendum commissions, the DPR has to form its first 12-member Election Commission by March 10, 2023 for a term of five years. One half of the DPR Election Commission members are appointed by the parliament and the other half by the acting head of the region. At least half of the Commission members are nominees of the political parties which can run in a parliamentary election.
Reports on Monday said that DPR Acting Head Denis Pushilin appointed six members to the Election Commission. The appointment of another six members by the parliament completes the formation of the Republic’s top election body.*jk
