Donetsk, Feb 22 — DAN. Ukrainian gunmen shelled Debaltsevo at night causing extensive damage to a sport center, the Town Hall press service told the Donetsk News Agency.
“The strike was delivered at 0:00, there were no civilian casualties, ” a Town Hall official said. “Severe damage was caused to the Lokomotiv sport center.”
The Joint Centre for Control and Coordination of issues related to Ukraine’s war crimes (JCCC) said that the missile strike at the town was supposedly delivered from Konstantinovka. The enemy expended six missiles.
The sport center took severe damage back in 2015 when a direct hit ruined floors, a wall, windows and utility lines. Repairs lasted for nearly five years. The sport center reopened in 2020, but the swimming pool repairs continued. In December 2022, Kharbarovsk Territory builders joined town rebuilding projects.
Debaltsevo is located in the northern part of the Donetsk People’s Republic. DPR and LPR forces liberated it from Ukrainian troops in February 2015. In May 2022, Russia’s Khabarovsk Territory began to provide assistance to the town in rebuilding its infrastructure.*jk
