Donetsk, Nov 28 — DAN. More than 200 homes were inundated due to bad weather in the south of the Donetsk People’s Republic on Monday, said the press service of the DPR Emergencies Ministry.
“Overall, 223 houses were inundated in Mariupol and the Novoazovsk and Mangush municipalities, ” the Ministry said adding that 53 people had been evacuated from the settlements of Sedovo, Mangush and the Pionerskoye village.
Thirty-two rescuers and ten pieces of equipment were involved in evacuation efforts.
Overnight to Monday, hurricane winds hit the Republic Leaving 525,000 residential customers without electricity. Engineers have already restored power supply to 444,000 households.
The storm also disrupted the operation of boiler houses and public transport. High winds brought down multiple trees in Donetsk and cut off power to two water supply inlets in Amvrosiyevka.
The worst-hit Novoazovsk district in the south of the Republic reported complete loss of power and partial flooding of four settlements. As many as 113 households were flooded in the Mangush district on the Belosarayskaya Spit and another 15 in Yalta.
More than 1,000 specialists were assigned to damage control.
Earlier reports said that floods had affected some 5,000 residential homes and household plots in five regions in southern Russia.*jk
