Donetsk, May 1 — DAN. Ukrainian armed formations shelled the Donetsk People’s Republic almost 100 times over the past weekend killing two civilians and wounding at least 13. Strikes were delivered at DPR settlements from Gorlovka to the outskirts of Ugledar.
On Saturday, Ukrainian army units reportedly expended 237 rounds of ammunition in 48 attacks on the Republic, using high mobility artillery rocket systems (HIMARS), NATO-supplied long-range artillery pieces and other weapons. Twelve DPR settlements came under artillery fire.
Two civilians were killed in Yasinovataya, and another 12 were wounded in the Petrovsky and Leninsky districts of Donetsk and Yasinovataya. Forty 40 homes and two infrastructure facilities were damaged.
The situation remained tense on Sunday. The enemy opened fire 49 times on the Gorlovka, Yasinovataya, Donetsk and Volnovakha axes using 122mm, 152mm and 155mm (NATO standard) artillery. Overall, Kiev forces expended 198 rounds of ammunition. One civilian was wounded and two homes were damaged in the strikes.
Last night was restless for residents of DPR frontline settlements as Ukrainian gunmen continued to deliver fire. The shelling is ongoing. DPR authorities urged the population to stay indoors and reduce their presence in the streets in dangerous districts.*jk
