Donetsk, Apr 14 — DAN. The decision to hand over the Mariupol-based “Azovstal” metallurgical works to the Donbass Development Corporation (KRD) for trust management has already been made, KRD Board Chairman Andrey Shpilenko told the Donetsk News Agency.
“I emphasize that the collegiate authority set up by the Russian government and led by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin has decided to pass ‘Azovstal’ to the Donbass Development Corporation for trust management, ” Shpilenko said.
The KRD has already submitted an application for technology and eco-industrial parks projects on the premises of the enterprise, he added. Priority is given to mine clearance, to be followed by an audit. The Corporation then will invite experts to assess the situation and present their vision of development prospects, he said.
“When we get a professional conclusion regarding the cleanup technicalities, we’ll invite resident companies which will localize their production there. Prior to deciding on the location of industrial parks, we’ll hold an architectural and urban planning solution contest, ” Shpilenko said.
Earlier, DPR First Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Mingazov told DAN that an extensive mine clearance operation would be conducted at “Azovstal.” *jk
