Donetsk, Aug 18 – DAN. DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko said Ukrainian army prepares large-scale provocations in Donbass which could result in a renewed military action.
"I think, Kiev has begun a large scale preparation of provocations to blame us in violation of the Minsk Agreements. We are on the edge of war," he said.
Zakharchenko added that tense situation is observed all along the contact line. One of the reasons behind escalation, according to the DPR leader, might be the lack of control over radicals who always participate in attempts to break through the DPR defense.
"The attacks take place because Kiev has lost control over Pravyi Sektor (Right Sector, a far-right Ukrainian nationalist political and paramilitary group of neofascist ideology) and nationalistic squads. The second thing is that Ukrainian soldiers on their positions commit provocations themselves."
Lately Ukrainian forces have intensified attempts to break through the DPR positions. On one of the latest occasions, in the evening of August 16, DPR position were attacked in the vicinity of Kominternovo township. The enemy was discovered and had to retreat suffering losses. *ot
