Donetsk, Feb 2 – DAN. Ukrainian forces opened fire 1,600 times at DPR territory over the past 24 hours, the contact line situation is very tense, DPR Operations Command deputy commander Eduard Basurin said on Thursday.

“The situation in the Donetsk People’s Republic remains very tense. Criminal Ukrainian forces shelled DPR territory 1,617 times over the past 24 hours,” he said. “Heavy artillery was employed 374 times, multiple launch rocket systems 40 times, mortars 429 times, infantry fighting vehicle cannons 53 times, and anti-aircraft guns, grenade launchers and small arms 721 times.”

Makeyevka, Gorlovka and Donetsk axes were heavily shelled. Settlements in Yasinovataya, Gorlovka, Telmanovskiy and Novoazovskiy districts, Dokuchayevsk and Donetsk came under fire.

“The enemy delivered concentrated fire with all weapons banned by the Minsk agreements. Thirty-eight houses and utility buildings hits were recorded. Makeyevka is a worst-hit settlement where 17 houses are heavily damaged," Basurin said.

Damage was recorded in Donetsk’s Kievskiy district, Dzerzhinskoye village in DPR south and Yasinovataya.
Earlier, three people were injured by Ukrainian forces shelling in Donetsk, two in southern Kominternovo village and one in Makeyevka. *jk
