Donetsk, Jan 18 — DAN. Russian forces have taken control of the Sol railway station area northwest of Soledar, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Wednesday.
“On the Donetsk axis, volunteers of the assault teams, supported by the Southern Military District task air force, missile troops and artillery liberated the settlement of Sol in the Donetsk People’s Republic, ” Konashenkov said.
On Tuesday, DPR Acting Head Denis Pushilin told Russia 24 TV channel that the Wagner Group fully controlled the Sol railway station.
Sol is a neighborhood in the northwestern outskirts of Soledar. It used to be an individual settlement before 1999 when it was included in the area administered by Soledar. The settlement accommodates a railway station. The Russian Defense Ministry reported the liberation of Soledar from Ukrainian troops on January 13.
Russia began the special military operation on February 24, 2022.*jk
