Donetsk, May 25 - DAN. Kiev deliberately tried to fail the 24 May humanitarian subgroup talks in Minsk as it did not pass the lists of detainees for upcoming prisoner exchange, DPR ombudswoman Darya Morozova said on Thursday.
“Humanitarian subgroup members again addressed the key problems in the upcoming “all-for-all” prisoner exchange. Ukrainian representatives came to the meeting unprepared,” Morozova said in a statement received by Donetsk News Agency. “Kiev is trying to fail the talks by not providing the list of persons ready for exchange; instead, they cited fictitious figures without substantiating them.”
It is yet another attempt by Kiev to create obstacles to completing verification of 236 persons. Kiev confirmed the data on 159 people while no information is available on another 77, Morozova said noting that these people might be dead already.
Despite stressful negotiations, DPR managed to press for Kiev’s providing current detainee lists and completing verification.
“I urge Kiev to conduct a meaningful dialogue and stop delaying the process. We must do everything for the soonest “all-for-all” prisoner exchange,” the ombudswoman said.
Earlier, Morozova stated that the participants in the latest humanitarian subgroup meeting in Minsk had to confirm the number of detainees on exchange lists. It would be possible to carry out prisoner exchange later this month upon completion of this procedure, she said. *jk
