Donetsk, Apr 13 - DAN. The first 24 recruits have arrived at a training centre where they will learn a military profession, Donetsk People’s Republic Head Denis Pushilin said.
“They will be trained for gunners, IFV, MT-LB and tank driver/mechanics, and ATGM operators,” Pushilin said in a statement published on the DPR leader’s official website. “The training will take place far from the contact line, under the guidance of experienced instructors.”
The DPR launched the first voluntary military enlistment on April 1. “Some 200 recruits from Donetsk, Makeyevka, Gorlovka, Yenakiyevo, Khartsyzsk and Shakhtyorsk as well as from the Amvrosiyevskiy, Novoazovskiy, Telmanovskiy and Starobeshevskiy districts have been selected,” the DPR Head said.
“It is important that every man in our Republic can hold a weapon in his hands and defend his Fatherland. As the year 2014 experience showed, a war can happen anytime. Thanks to former conscripts and Afghan war veterans, Donbass has held out,” Pushiln said.
The DPR leader thanked the recruits who deemed it their duty to enlist for a six months army service and learn a military profession, and commended military commissariats personnel for arranging quick and quality voluntary enlistment.*jk
