Donetsk, Aug 28 – DAN. Kiev must eliminate violations of Additional Measures to Control the Ceasefir, otherwise People's Militia will be ordered to destroy Ukrainian fortifications built in violation of existing agreements, said DPR Head Denis Pushilin.
"A month has passed since the measures have come into force. The most significant achievement is that this month was the calmest in six years of military action. No civilians were injured, no houses or infrastructural facilities damaged," he said.
Pushilin reminded though that Ukraine committed to comprehensive ceasefire five years ago at an international level.
He said that despite reduced intensity of shelling, Kiev kept violating the Additional Measures.
"Positional violations in Shumy raise concerns as Ukrainian armed formations are advancing their fortifications (trenches) towards the Seversky Dontets – Donbass water duct arch in an apparent attempt to secure their positions beneath it, as well as in the Petrovskoye pilot disengagement area where SMM reports newly constructed hideout that appeared after July 27."
All the attempts to curb violations via the JCCC mechanism failed, Pushilin said.
He warned that Ukraine must actively eliminate violations no later than September 3, 2020 by returning to positions as of July 22, 2020.
"Unless it is done I will be forces to implement Article F of the Additional Measures to prevent Ukraine's advance towards our positions and to issue an order to destroy Ukrainian trenches and hideouts, reinforced or constructed after July 22," he said.
The Additional Measures to Strengthen the Ceasefire were signed at the Contact Group meeting on July 22 to reinforce and control the indefinite ceasefire in effect since July 21, 2019, the latest in the series of more than 20 reconfirmation and announcements of the “silence regime”. The package came into effect on July 27. *ot
