Donetsk, Jan 11 - DAN. DPR authorities will provide assistance to people released from Ukrainian captivity, DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko said on Thursday.
“Ukraine cheated again failing to deliver the declared number of prisoners. The immediate priority is to help people snap out of depression and provide psychological counselling. They will get the necessary assistance in restoring their documents, as for the housing, these issues will be settled on an individual basis,” Zakharchenko said in reply to a DAN question.
Zakharchenko said the number of people handed over to DPR did not match the declared number and that he had instructed DPR ombudswoman Darya Morozova to raise the matter at the Minsk talks. “The negotiations will last for a long time. Ukraine has no good will to exchange all for all,” the DPR leader said.
A large prisoner exchange in Donbass took place on the contact line in Mayorsk crossing point area on 27 December 2017. Lugansk and Kiev representatives carried out the 73 for 16 swap at the Ukrainian checkpoint and then DPR and Ukraine exchanged their prisoners in DPR territory. According to DPR ombudswoman’s information, at least 290 DPR residents remain in Ukrainian captivity. *jk
