Mariupol, Apr 28 - DAN. The Victory military parade will take place in Donetsk only after complete liberation of the Donetsk People’s Republic territory from Ukrainian invaders, DPR Head Denis Pushilin told reporters during his visit to Mariupol on Thursday.
“It wasn’t an easy decision to make; we’ve had a long discussion with the dedicated departments; we’ll hold a Victory parade after achieving direct victory and reaching our constitutional borders. The date will be named after complete liberation of the DPR,” Pushilin said in reply to the question if Donetsk would hold a military parade on May 9.
He explained the likely postponement by the considerations of people’s safety.
“We know it will draw crowds, and our enemy is an outright war criminal. It not that they can deliver a strike, they will surely do it to bring harm, without any regard for the civilian population and infrastructure,” Pushilin said.
The DPR leader said that the Republic would run the "Immortal Regiment" action interactively.
“We know what people want, we’ve had very many appeals, including from liberated DPR towns for the “Immortal Regiment” march. We’ll have festivities but we cannot allow mass gatherings of people,” he said.
On Thursday, DPR Head Denis Pushilin travelled to Mariupol. He visited the seaport, talked with its personnel, and inspected port facilities and ships. He also visited the “United Russia” humanitarian aid center in the Ecomarket area. *jk
