Donetsk, Jul 25 - DAN. U.S. weapons supplies to Ukraine can only worsen the Donbass contact line situation, DPR envoy to Minsk talks Denis Pushilin told Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.
“Regrettably, it is not the first time the issue of US weapons supplies to Ukraine has been raised. A positive decision can only mount tension on the contact line and escalate the conflict,” Pushilin said in comments on U.S. Department of State special representative Kurt Volker’s statement concerning possible weapons supplies to Ukraine.
Such statements are at variance with Washington’s earlier position supporting the Donbass peace process, he said.
On 24 July, U.S. Department of State special representative Kurt Volker said Washington mulled possible weapons supplies to Ukraine. According to Volker, “defensive weapons... would allow Ukraine to defend itself.” *jk
