Donetsk, Feb 9 - DAN. Representatives of the Donetsk People’s Republic at the Minsk talks suggested a plan to resume full-fledged operation of the checkpoints on the contact line, the DPR Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday following Contact Group talks.

“The Ukrainian negotiators have again failed to pay proper attention to our timely, practical proposal on the humanitarian track to work out uniform rules for crossing the checkpoints, with the participation of medics, and, if necessary WHO personnel,” DPR diplomats said.

Before the New Year, the Ukrainian representatives rejected the humanitarian initiative of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics to resume the operation of crossing points during the holidays.

There are four crossing points that link the DPR and Kiev-held areas. Only one of them currently operates due to the spread of the coronavirus infection. The Yelenovka crossing point, located south of Donetsk, opens a humanitarian corridor on Mondays and Fridays.

Residence registration in Ukraine is required to exit the DPR; to enter the Republic, visitors have to obtain a permit from the DPR COVID-19 crisis headquarters located in Donetsk. Visitors have to fill in an in-hospital examination consent form. They can opt for a rapid COVID-19 test at the crossing point. Self-isolation at home is permitted in case of negative result. *jk
