Donetsk, Nov 28 - DAN. Six Georgian mercenaries fighting on Kiev’s side were wounded as Ukrainian army units shelled the captured Travnevoye village outside Gorlovka, DPR Operations Command said on Tuesday.
“Our intelligence received information that an artillery group of 128th separate mountain infantry brigade shelled positions of 25th separate motorised infantry battalion of 54th brigade in Travnevoye area yesterday,” a DPR Operations Command officer said. “Six Georgian mercenaries were wounded in the shelling.”
The DPR military believes that the incident is Kiev’s attempt to get rid of the so-called “Georgian fifth column” which the incumbent Ukrainian president views as a threat to his power.
The order to open fire was issued by 128th brigade commander Sobko.
Last week, Ukrainian forces seized Gladosovo settlement and Travenevoye village in the so-called “grey zone” outside Gorlovka. Kiev immediately deployed weapons to the seized settlements. *jk
