Donetsk, Jun 23 - DAN. The Minsk Contact Group security subgroup supported the general mine clearance plan for Donbass proposed by the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, the Donetsk People’s Republic Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination said on Tuesday.
“The OSCE SMM prepared a general demining plan of the areas next to the contact line which was supported by the parties,” the JCCC said. “The negotiators will locate the sites providing their coordinates and mine clearance schedule.”
On March 3, 2016, the subgroup on security coordinated the decision of the Contact Group on mine action which committed the parties to the Donbass conflict to mine clearance, mapping and fencing dangerous areas in the region.
In January 2019, the coordinator for the OSCE offered the parties to coordinate the list of pre-school and secondary schools in the frontline areas for demining. In February, mine clearance was carried out on the premises of five schools and kindergartens. Negotiators at the Minsk meeting on March 27, 2019, called for further mine action in Donbass.*jk
