Donetsk, Mar 4 – DAN. Washington should focus on the actions of Kiev it holds accountable, not on the status of unrecognized Donbass Republics, said DPR envoy to the Minsk negotiations Denis Pushilin commenting on the words of U.S. special representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker on 'disbanding' the DPR and the LPR.
"If Mr. Volker is truly committed to peaceful resolution to the conflict we would like him to concentrate on his minions, on Ukraine, on Kiev's systematic violations of their obligations assumed under the Minsk Agreements. This would be much more helpful," Pushilin said.
Earlier media reports said that during a panel discussion at the Hudson Institute think tank based in Washington Volker had said the DPR and the LPR "need to be disbanded" as "there is no place for them in Ukraine’s constitutional order".
The peaceful settlement of the Donbas crises is based on the Minsk Agreements dated 5 September 2014 and, followed by the 19 September 2014 Memorandum on the ceasefire implementation. On 12 February 2015 the negotiators signed the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements; it sets forth immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in effect from 15 February 2015; withdrawal of heavy weapons, establishment of a security zone; discussion of modalities of resuming social payments in Donbass; a constitutional reform in Ukraine aimed at a deep decentralization of the state’s system of government. *ot
