Donetsk, Oct 4 — DAN. The North Korean Foreign Ministry has said that it respects the decision of residents of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Lugansk People’s Republic and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to join the Russian Federation, DPR Ambassador to Russia Olga Makeyeva said on Tuesday.
“The DPRK Foreign Ministry welcomed the accession of new regions to Russia stating its respect for the will of their residents, ” Makeyeva wrote on Telegram.
Pyongyang also said that it was confident that the referenda conformed to the UN Charter.
The ceremony to sign the agreements on the accession to the Russian Federation of the DPR, LPR and Kherson and Zaporozhye regions was held in the Moscow Kremlin on September 30. Earlier, these regions held referenda which showed massive support for reunification with Russia.*jk
