Donetsk, Mar 28 – DAN. Ukrainian militants keep using illegal methods of moral and physical coercion against captured participants on the special military operation, the DPR Ombudswoman Daria Morozova said.

“I am deeply shocked by the footage from the Kharkov region, circulated yesterday on social media. In this video, Ukrainian nationalists brutally mock the captured military personnel. Unarmed and bound men are shot in the legs. At the same time, they continue to be interrogated, leaving them without the necessary medical care,” Morozova said.

She described it as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, a war crime that Ukrainian militants "do not even try to hide."

“Today, I officially addressed the Head of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine, Pascal Hundt, and the Head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, Matilda Bogner, with a call to intervene in the situation, give a proper legal assessment of Ukraine’s actions and take urgent response measures to prevent torture, coercion and humiliation of captured citizens in the future,” Morozova added.

According to the Ombudsman, this can be achieved if the human rights situation in Ukraine is analysed within the framework of the UN Committee against Torture at the UN General Assembly. *ot
