Donetsk, Aug 22 – DAN. Security subgroup entered the second day of Minsk talks to discuss ceasefire control options, said DPR representative at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) Ruslan Yakubov.
"Today, August 22, the subgroup on security issues embarked on the second stage of the two-day talks. The negotiators are to discuss additional measures to control the ceasefire in the context of the sides' renewed commitment within the framework of the School Ceasefire; the existing problems and further steps to stifle the violations of the Framework agreement (on the disengagement of forces and hardware); measures to protect civilian infrastructure on the eve of winter," Yakubov said.
He said that on the first day of the talks, August 21, the group discussed the implementations of the current ceasefire and its outcome, necessity of additional control measures and aspects of the renewal of the sides' commitment to observe the ceasefire on the eve of the new school year. The DPR official representative presented the statistics on Kiev's ceasefire violations.
In the period of July 25 – August 21 (since the previous meeting in Minsk), 133 ceasefire violations on the Kiev forces' side were recorded. Ukrainian units expended 9.34 tons of ammunition or 1,926 rounds. Three civilians were injured, 77 houses or infrastructure objects were damaged.
Spartak and Staromikhailovka west of Donetsk, Gorlovka outskirts, Golmovskiy in particular, Krutaya Balka outside Yasinovataya, Kominternovo and Sakhanka remain the hotspots on the contact line.
