Donetsk, Feb 17 - DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic representative to the Contact Group talks Natalia Nikonorova called upon OSCE Special Monitoring Mission representatives to create new mechanisms for verification of Donbass conflict victims. She made the statement during the peace talks on Wednesday, DPR delegation representatives in the Contact Group said.
“Nikonorova drew the Mission’s attention to the necessity to design new mechanisms for verification of victims of Ukrainian armed formations aggression, in connection with the fact that the Mission had introduced temporary restrictions on visits to medical centres by its members as part of sanitary and epidemiological measures,” a DPR delegation member said.
It was underlined that the mechanism “has to be in the legal space with the view of ensuring the confidentiality of information received by the OSCE SMM. It is logical that phone calls which the Mission currently practices cannot serve as the ground for providing personal data, whose procedure is regulated by appropriate laws,” the DPR official said.
Earlier reports said that Donetsk had called for an international conference on implementation of the “Minsk-2” accords which will involve the Donbass Republics, Ukraine, the mediators in the person of the OSCE and the Minsk Agreements guarantor countries as well as UN member-states representatives. The Belarussian capital was proposed as the conference venue.*jk
