Donetsk, Oct 5 - DAN. The Contact Group working group on political issues started a meeting in Minsk, the key point on the agenda is the discussion of proposal made earlier by German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
"Political working group has started negotiating, the main task is to discuss the "Steinmeier 's formula", as the legislation on the special status (of Donbass region) is a corner stone of political aspects of Minsk Agreements. Political subgroup work can be effective if only the amendments coordinated with Donbass are made to the law," said DPR Foreign Ministry press officer.
Steinmeier 's formula defines the principles of implementation of the Ukrainian law “On local self-government order in certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk region". According to German Foreign Minister plan, the law should be enforced on the day of local elections on a temporary basis, and permanently upon OSCE publishing its report on the elections outcome.
At the moment subgroups for humanitarian and security issues are negotiating in Minsk.
