Donetsk, Jun 14 — DAN. The Foreign Ministers of the Donetsk People’s Republic and Syrian Arab Republic, Natalia Nikonorova and Faisal Mekdad, have held a working meeting in Damascus, the DPR Foreign Ministry press service said on Tuesday.
“A meeting of delegates from Donetsk with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic Faisal Mekdad took place within the framework of the official visit of the DPR delegation to Damascus. In the course of the meeting, Natalia Nikonorova gave a retrospective view of the Donbass conflict and elaborated on the current situation, ” the press service said.
Mekdad denounced the policy of the USA and western countries which supply heavy weapons to Ukraine thus abetting war crimes in Donbass.
“He expressed the hope that joint efforts of the DPR People’s Militia and Russian armed forces would help liberate Donbass from the Ukrainian regime and establish peace and quiet in the Republics, ” the DPR Foreign Ministry said. “Mr Mekdad also expressed readiness for interstate cooperation and development of comprehensive relations with Donbass.”
Closing the meeting, the DPR and Syrian foreign ministers agreed that the two countries had a considerable potential to develop bilateral cooperation in various fields. They reached an accord on joint moves towards direct interaction between the Republics in the field of protecting citizens’ interests as well as in the fields of economy, culture and science.
The DPR delegation which includes DPR parliament deputy speaker Sergey Prokopenko and parliament member Valery Skorokhodov met with People’s Council speaker Hammoud Sabbagh. Donetsk proposed to consider the opportunity to set up a parliament group for DPR-Syrian friendship. To address the issue, the DPR parliamentarians offered their Syrian colleagues to come to Donetsk on a working visit.
Earlier reports on Tuesday said that DPR Foreign Minister Natalia Nikonorova held a working meeting with Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party Assistant Secretary General Hilal al-Hilal.*jk
