Donetsk, Jul 11 — DAN. NATO countries at the Vilnius summit are most likely to announce more military assistance to Ukraine, but they will not admit it to NATO, a political scientist told the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.
“Most probably, NATO members will announce further military aid to Ukraine, long-term supplies, handover of new types of armaments or even a plan for Kiev’s joining the alliance, ” said Kirill Cherkashin, assistant professor at the Political Science Department of the Donetsk State University. “On the one hand, this is to show a course in support of Ukraine, but on the other, Ukraine will not accede to the alliance at this or subsequent summits, because NATO does not need such an obvious confrontation with Russia.”
Ukraine is already doing it to the West’s advantage, Cherkashin said.
The Kiev regime wanted to strengthen its positions by achieving military success in the runup to the summit, but its counteroffensive failed. “It will continue to make attempts even during the summit, but this will change nothing, ” the analyst said.
A summit of NATO countries will take place in Vilnius on July 11-12. It will bring together the leaders of all countries of the alliance including US President Joe Biden. Ukrainian representatives have been invited to the summit, too.*jk
