Donetsk, Jun 29 — DAN. The Ukrainian tank crewmen who delivered fire at administration and apartment buildings in Mariupol last March have confessed to the crime, the press service of Russia’s Investigative Committee (SK) reported on Thursday.
“In March 2022, a T-80BV crew comprising commander Koval, gunner Chumak and driver Fedorovich delivered fire at administration and apartment buildings in Mariupol, ” the press service said following the Investigative Committee session in Donetsk chaired by SK Head Alexander Bastrykin. “Charges have been brought against the suspects; they have made a confession.”
The damage they caused exceeds 822 million rubles, the SK said.
Bastrykin also received a report on the investigation into cases against Kiev officials who had terrorized Donbass since 2014. Charges have been brought against former chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Vasily Gritsak who led the punitive operation against Donbass from July 2014 to November 2016, and former first deputy chairman of the SBU Vitaly Malikov who commanded this operation from November 2016 to April 2018.
The SK proved their involvement in the attacks on Donbass which left 287 people dead and another 536 wounded, and damaged 640 civil infrastructure facilities. Measures are being taken to find and arrest these persons.
SK investigators have also examined more than 800 criminal cases over Ukraine’s war crimes committed against Donbass civilians in previous years, and identified the most solvable cases.
Earlier reports said that the SK was investigating the participation of mercenaries from 33 countries in the fighting on the side of Ukraine.*jk
