Donetsk, Nov 7 — DAN. A sniper from Ukraine’s 36th Marine Brigade has been sentenced to life in prison for killing four residents of Mariupol, Russia’s Investigative Committee reported on Tuesday.

Investigators said that Igor Kleshchunov was under orders of 2nd Company commander Leonid Onupko in the city of Mariupol from March 10 to April 4. Kleshchunov followed his commander’s order on March 14 to kill three civilians with assault weapon as they were passing Ukrainian gunmen’s positions in Zelenogorsky Lane. On March 30, he shot and killed another civilian in Okhotnichiy Lane.

The Investigative Committee said that the marine would serve his term in a maximum security penitentiary.

Marine Brigade’s 2nd Company commander Onupko was sentenced to life imprisonment in October.*jk
