Donetsk, Nov 13 — DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic Supreme Court has sentenced marine engineer platoon commander Oleg Zavaletsky to 30 years for killing Mariupol civilians, the DPR Prosecutor’s Office said on Monday.
The gunman manned a battle position on the premises of a Mariupol college from March to April 2022. Obeying his commander’s order, Zavaletsky shot and killed five civilians and one wounded prisoner-of-war, prosecutors said.
The DPR Supreme Court found him guilty of hate murder and cruel treatment of POWs and civilians in occupied territory. Zavaletsky will serve his sentence in a maximum security penitentiary.*jk
