Donetsk, Sep 8 - DAN. Ukraine lost its sovereignty after the government overthrow of 2014 and the severance of ties with Russia, Donetsk People’s Republic Head Denis Pushilin said at a forum of United Russia party supporters in Donetsk on Wednesday.

“Without Russia, Ukraine is a stillborn project,” Pushilin said. “It could and can only exist with a common sense in interaction with its neighbors while understanding its historical background,” Pushilin said in response to a question about the future of the neighboring country.

In his opinion, Ukraine lost its statehood as it became a protectorate of Europe and the USA.  In fact, the country has been under control of the West since 2014. It does not see Ukraine as a strong state with a stable economy and independent politics.

“Ukraine is being used; it lost its sovereignty since 2014, and now we see that those who govern the country are unaware that they have to be guided by the interests of their citizens in the first place,” the DPR leader said.

On Wednesday, United Russia party supporters held a forum in Donetsk. It gathered 450 people, including high-ranking guests from Russia, the Lugansk People’s Republic and South Ossetia. The participants discussed the future of the Russian state and the role of Donbass in Russia’s politics and economy.*jk
