Lugansk, Aug 18 – DAN. Ukraine's participation in the search for missing persons in Donbass would accelerate the completion of this process, said the Ombudswoman of the DPR, Head of the Inter-ministerial Commission for the Search for Missing Persons and Burial Sites, Daria Morozova, signing an agreement between the DPR and the LPR on the exchange of information concerning the search for missing persons.
"In 2019 Ukraine passed a law "On Missing Persons", and in the same way they should have had an interdepartmental commission working on this issue, but, unfortunately, according to my information, this commission did not start working, and funds were not even allocated for it. I want that our opponents do not politicize a purely humanitarian issue, and if we could involve them (in search of the missing persons - note DAN ), we would do a very large part of the work twice as fast", Morozova noted.
She added that the DPR will continue to raise the issue of Ukraine's involvement in the process in the humanitarian subgroup. "And I hope that we shall have results", - Morozova said.
Today it was reported that the DPR and the LPR signed an agreement on exchange of information on the search for missing persons in Donbass.
The Interministerial Commission and Working Group for Searching Burial Sites of Victims of Ukrainian Aggression were established in the DPR and LPR on August 6 and July 20, respectively. The group is also to look for missing persons and to commemorate the memory of the victims. *ot
