Makeyevka, Jun 19 — DAN. Ukrainian gunmen in the Kiev-controlled territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic have stepped up violence against civilians, DPR ombudsperson Darya Morozova said at a press conference on Monday.
“It’s no secret that Ukrainian servicemen used the civilian population as ‘human shield’ to foil quick advance of Russian forces, ” Morozova said. “Ukrainian battalions and Nazis’ actions against civilians get tougher every time Russia liberates a new settlement.”
Russia launched the special military operation (SVO) to defend Donbass on February 24, 2022. During the liberation of Volnovakha in the beginning of the SVO, Ukrainian armed formations used the “human shield” tactic delivering fire from the buildings populated by civilians. They repeatedly used it during the clashes for Mariupol and Artyomovsk.*jk
