Donetsk, Dec 26 — DAN. The Donetsk People’s Republic Supreme Court has passed an “in absentia” sentence on a Ukrainian army serviceman for launching attacks on several DPR settlements, Russia’s Investigative Committee (SK) reported on Tuesday.
“17th Tank Brigade Private First Class Mikhail Izotov was found guilty of murder, attempted murder, cruel treatment of civilians, use of banned methods in armed conflict and malicious damage to property, ” the SK said.
In the period from February 24 to March 10, 2022, Izotov who was at a battle position between the settlements of Gnutovo and Lebedinskyoe, fired at least 15 fragmentation rounds at the settlements of Sartana, Sakhanka, Talakovka and Stary Krym in the Donetsk People’s Republic killing a 17-year-old civilian and wounding a woman. Forty-two homes and two vehicles were damaged or destroyed.
Izotov was sentenced in absentia to 28 years in a maximum security prison. The Donetsk News Agency earlier reported that Izotov had been put on the international wanted list.*jk
