Donetsk, Jul 6 — DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic prosecutors have referred to the trial court the case against the marine engineering company commander who ordered to shoot and kill 37 civilians in Mariupol.
“DPR prosecutors endorsed the indictment against 36th Marine Brigade engineering company commander Alexander Svinarchuk, ” the press service of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office said. “The case was sent to the Republic’s Supreme Court for consideration on the merits.”
Svinarchuk who was at Ukrainian army positions at a Mariupol-based company from February 28 to April 9, 2022, ordered his subordinates Vitaly Antonov, Denis Rashplya and Ivan Taran to shoot at civilians. They fired their assault rifles killing 21 people. Another 16 civilians took cover and survived, the investigator said.
The marine was charged with the murder of several persons and war crime.
The Donetsk News Agency earlier reported that the case against Rashplya would go on trial.*jk
