Donetsk, Jan 18 - DAN. Gunmen have occupied the school and the premises of an active forestry company in the Kiev-controlled Novognatovka village outside Volnovakha, Donetsk People’s Republic People’s Militia deputy commander Eduard Basurin said on Tuesday.
“According to the Volnovakha district administration, residents have been complaining about unlawful actions by Ukrainian gunmen,” Basurin said. “Reports said that about a month ago, some 60 gunmen without identifying insignia occupied the Novognatovka secondary school and seized the premises of an operating forestry company to deploy 12 armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles there.”
The gunmen have been looting the abandoned homes and their tracked vehicles have been ruining the village road, he added.
Tensions have been mounting on the contact line in Donbass since January 9. Kiev army units deliver fire on all axes. On Tuesday afternoon, the Spartak village in the northern outskirts of Donetsk came under Ukrainian army mortar fire. *jk
