Donetsk, Nov 15 — DAN. The first stage of the restoration of the Ilyichevets sport center in Mariupol has been completed, the Russian Ministry of Sport told the Donetsk News Agency on Wednesday.
“The restoration of city sport infrastructure including large sport facilities deserves special note, ” the Ministry said. “As of today, the first stage of repairs on the Ilyichevets sport center has been completed.”
The works to renovate the “Neptun” indoor swimming pool with a 50-meter long basin will be launched with St Petersburg’s assistance in the near future, according to the Ministry.
Ilyichevets had been Ukraine’s largest covered stadium before the beginning of 2022. It accommodates a football pitch, wrestling, boxing, volleyball, basketball and tennis halls, a fitness center and a press office. The facility was badly damaged during hostilities. Authorities plan to fully repair it in the next two years.*jk
