Donetsk, Nov 20 — DAN. Donetsk People’s Republic junior boxer Ylyana Savro has won a silver medal at the European tournament in Montenegro, Debaltsevo district authorities said on Monday.
“Russia was represented by Ulyana Savro; we congratulate her and her coach Roman Kuksa with an outstanding victory, ” district head Sergei Zhelnovach said on his Telegram channel.
Ulyana Savro is a native of the town of Debaltsevo, Donetsk People’s Republic. She won DPR boxing tournaments three times in a row and two tournaments in the Rostov region. In 2021, she made it to the Russian tournament finals and later on won gold at a boxing tournament in Serbia.
Montegnegro hosted a boxing tournament for athletes aged 19-22 on November 10 — 20. It involved 299 boxers from 34 countries. The Russians won nine gold, eight silver and one bronze medals taking the first place in the team event under the Russian tricolor. The International Boxing Association refused to follow the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee on national identification and let Russian and Ukrainian boxers perform without any restrictions.*jk
