Donetsk, Jun 26 — DAN. Repairs are ongoing on 22 sport centers in the Donetsk People’s Republic, DPR Acting Sport and Tourism Minister Yury Martynov told the Donetsk News agency.
“Ukrainian armed formations damaged more than 70 indoor sport facilities in DPR and liberated areas, ” Marynov said. “Nineteen were fully restored in 2022, and repairs have been launched on another 22.”
DPR authorities and Russian sponsor regions have agreed renovation projects for four sport centers, construction of four new ones, and preparation of design and specification estimates for another two.
Under the DPR socio-economic development program, 21 sport centers and 12 outdoor sport and fitness facilities will be built by the end of 2025. The DPR’s participation in Russia’s national and federal sport projects is under consideration.
The Donetsk News Agency earlier reported that the Russian Sport Ministry would use federal budget money to rebuild 12 war-damaged sport facilities in the DPR and help it create new sport and fitness centers. Budget and non-budgetary allocations for the DPR sport facilities renovation program until 2025 are estimated at 3.5 billion rubles and 1.9 billion rubles, respectively.*jk
