Donetsk, Jun 21 — DAN. Repairs have been launched on the Children and Youth Creativity House in Volnovakha, which will become a modern recreation facility, a district official told the Donetsk News Agency on Wednesday.
“It will be converted into a modern youth center with numerous lounge spaces, and have a cinema house and interesting locations to pursue creative activities, ” Volnovakha district head Konstantin Zinchenko said adding that the repairs would be completed by yearend.
The rebuilding project is sponsored by Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area (YaNAO). Hobby groups and sport clubs which operated at the House will be moved to the new building on the premises of school No 1, the official said.
Several images posted on the Volnovakha district’s Telegram channel show a structure with dismantled roof, windows and doors and plastering works and floor construction in progress.
The Volnovakha district is located southwest of Donetsk. The DPR took control of its administrative center, the town of Volnovakha, on March 11, 2022, and liberated a large part of the district the next day. It is a key rail and motor transport hub on the way to Mariupol. Fighting left 85 percent of the buildings damaged including 19 hospitals, kindergartens and schools. The Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area undertook to sponsor Volnovakha rebuilding. YaNAO Governor Dmitry Artyukhov and Volnovakha district head Konstantin Zinchenko signed a cooperation agreement in June 2022.*jk
