Donetsk, Oct 2 - DAN. The United Donbass Foundation social organisation has approved 171 million rubles worth of financial assistance to the needy since the beginning of this year, Foundation chairman Oleg Balykin said at a press briefing at the Donetsk News Agency on Tuesday.

“The Foundation’s Commission has met 18 times in 2018. It has reviewed 9,538 requests for aid; of those 4,484 were approved to the tune of 171,457,100 rubles,” Balykin said.

The Commission last met on September 26. It approved benefits for 300 applicants worth over 10.5 million rubles. The Foundation has considered a total of 13,857 requests for help from Donbass residents since the beginning of its operation and approved a total of 215, 189,840 rubles worth of financial aid to 5,983 applicants.

Elderly people over 65 years of age currently make up the largest group of recipients. The Foundation has approved payments to 1,354 pensioners worth 49,635,600 rubles since it was launched last year.

The Donetsk People’s Republic set up the United Donbass Foundation in March 2017 as part of the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme, to help people in a difficult situation, both in the Republic and Kiev-controlled areas.*jk
